beat winter break boredom

I have successfully survived three winter breaks throughout my college career. Somehow, the fourth and final one has become a challenge for me. If you’re anything like me, the majority of the time, you’re sprawled out on your couch binge watching season after season of the best new shows. Although I’m a big fan of Netflix, it kind of makes you go stir crazy after a while. Let’s save our sanity and be productive in the process.

Work out

This may seem like a freebie, but being home and away from obligations gives you ample time to get your blood pumping. When school is in session, you can tell yourself anything as an excuse for not making it to the gym. With the new year coming up, get a jump start on your resolution and get back in shape. I’ve recently discovered blogilates (she has an app, too!) which in addition to my friends challenging me on Fitbit has helped me to build work outs back into my daily routine.

Update your Spotify playlists

Prep for your pregames back at school now by exploring new artists and upcoming hits. I always love being the friend who introduces something new (you’re welcome for SoMo, everyone) and I’m sure you will as well. I’ve taken my own advice and have recently revamped my pride and joy of a playlist, middle school turn up.

Clean out your closet

All your haven’t-been-worn clothes can be taken to Plato’s Closet and in turn, you get cash to spend  on replacement pieces. I bet if you look hard enough, you’ll find some Hollister tops that have seen better days and belong with a tween, not with you.

Roadtrip

Even if it’s just 30 miles away, go somewhere that you haven’t been before. The drive there is half the adventure, and it’s amazing what gems you can find when you go looking for them. Old barns, bridges, small town squares, or in my case, newly formed lakes (S/O to #STLflood2015) are great for the ‘gram, too.

Make dinner

Give mom a night off and hone your culinary skills. You should probably learn how to feed yourself with substance and not just Ramen.

Online shop

A lot of stores have huge end-of-the-year deals online to get rid of inventory. Although your parents may want you to save your money, when you’re basically robbing a retailer, it’s worth every penny. If you’re headed to a beach for spring break, check out Frankie’s bikinis. Their 2015 line is currently reduced and super cute!

You can, and will, make it through winter break. Hopefully these ideas help!

xoxo
