Introducing Cait’s Book Club

Hi, hello, and welcome! I am so glad to have you here.

Reading has always been enjoyable for me, even at a young age. I was one of the kids who got really excited for the Scholastic Book Fairs, circling the catalogues to plan what I’d buy. I can remember my aunt driving us up from family vacation in Branson to be at the Harry Potter book release in Springfield at midnight – then reading it with a book light the minute we got back into the car.

Books give me a weird, and at times, contradictory, combination of escapism, excitement and utter calm. In an ever-changing world, I’ve found myself turning more to books than ever before. One of my 2020 resolutions or goals was to read at least two books each month. Even when life is crazy, when the days are long, I need to give myself the time to decompress and open up a book.

I’ve occasionally shared feedback on books I’ve read on my Instagram stories, but I have been thinking about increasing the coverage for quite some time. This week, when many of you requested more book posts, I couldn’t have been happier. I love when we’re on the same page! (book pun intended)

I’ll be marrying my own personal goal to blog content in the form of Cait’s Book Club. It’s now its own category on the site, found under the “Life” tab of my menu. Each month, I will select two books based off of your suggestions to read. You can choose to pick one or both of the books to read along with the rest of our virtual book club, and at the end of the month, I’ll write a blog post with my thoughts, plus create “Chats” on IG so we can discuss together! We’ll have one per book, and if you read both books, you can join both chats. IG chats have a 32 person limit so if one fills up, another will be created! One of my good friends already told me she’ll be reading along but doesn’t want to feel like she’s back in a classroom answering guided questions, so believe me, this isn’t THAT kind of discussion 😉 plus you’re more than welcome to skip out on the IG chats, too!

To kick things off, I’m announcing a “mini book club” for February because of our shared excitement! Since we are about halfway through February, there will only be one book for the month.

The first book in Cait’s Book Club…

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

I would say nearly half of the suggestions for books were this particular one, which I myself have heard great things about from my friends AND just got on my ereader last night! It seems meant to be our first book to read together 🙂

I found it under $10 at Amazon with two day delivery and at the same price at Target for in-store pick up.

I’m looking forward to starting our virtual book club and for the good reads we will share together!! Feel free to DM me or email me with any questions or suggestions.

xoxo cait
