Masquerade Mask Halloween Makeup Tutorial
Hi friends! I am so excited to share this Halloween makeup tutorial with all of you. I wanted to do something that was pretty easy, because a lot of you have told me you feel “decent” at best when it comes to makeup. SAME. I can’t do the crazy looks you see online, but I know I am capable of drawing lines…. which brings me to my Masquerade Mask tutorial!
You will need:
- Your normal makeup products
- One lighter / skinnier crayon liner (I recommend light brown or blue)
- One thicker black crayon liner
- One liquid eyeliner (optional)
- Gemstones (optional)
- Gray eyeshadow (optional)
Step One: Do Normal Makeup
By normal, I mean how you usually do your makeup for a night out! Foundation, eyeshadow, etc. Everyone has their own routine, and every single one fits this look. You can go full glam or stay a little more natural!
Step Two: Outline Eyes and Mark Edges of Mask
Start with the lighter eyeliner. This is going to be sort of how you use pencil first and THEN trace it with pen – it’s going to be easier to remove any mess ups with this lighter eyeliner than it will be with a black one. Draw the eye holes of your mask. I opted to add a little flair to mine with some wings! I also put a marker where I wanted my mask to end on my nose and on my forehead. My forehead mark wasn’t exactly in the middle, but it served the purpose.
Step Three: Outline Outer Part of Mask
Using the lighter eyeliner still, draw the outside of your mask. As you can see above, I had to make some adjustments, but it was easy to grab a Q tip and remove the mistakes. You also need to draw a line down the bridge of your nose, connecting the top and bottom of the mask, to help you in the next step.
Step Four: Draw Connecting Lines
Okay, now it’s time for the black eyeliner! Trace over your eye holes and mask outline, and then begin to connect the lines together. It’s okay if some are horizontal and some are vertical, or even if some are diagonal! Just make sure you stay in between your mask outline, as it’s harder to remove this black eyeliner without smudging.
Step Five: Draw Perpendicular Lines
Using the same eyeliner, you are going to draw lines going the opposite direction! I mainly made mine horizontal, but filled in diagonal ones when necessary. Add as few or as many lines as you want depending on the look you are going for. I wanted my mask to look like netted lace, so I did a few more rounds.
Step Six: Touch Ups and Embellishment
The fun part! I used a liquid eyeliner for this because of the precision, but you can totally use the same black eyeliner from the steps above, too. I added some swirls along the edges of the mask to make it look more like lace. I also made the point at the top a bit sharper, and fixed an issue I had with bottom on my nose. I think adding gems to your mask would be a fun touch, too! Finally, I applied some light grey shimmery eyeshadow over the whole thing to help it appear as one large mask.
And there you have it! A super easy masquerade mask Halloween makeup tutorial that doesn’t involve anything scary.. unless you want to make it 😉
Let me know if you end up using this for Halloween – I would love to see pictures 🙂
