I Let Different Bloggers Edit My IG Photo
Most bloggers get questions sent to them over email or DMs quite frequently. I try to answer them as they come in, sometimes in Q&A blog posts, or refer the asker to a more in-depth answer I’d given in a YouTube video or older blog post. In recent weeks, I’ve gotten more questions about editing photos for my blog and Instagram than ever before. Though there are a few, “I LOVE your edits, how do you do them?” the questions mainly were about how editing works and how it can transform a photo.
I’ve been able to share the apps I use for my Instagram feed as well as general information on Lightroom, but I felt a bit stumped on how to show my readers the true power of an edit.
I had the idea to send the same unedited photo to a bunch of bloggers I’m friends with, in networking groups with, or follow on IG. How different would the final photos be? Would there be any edits I preferred to my own? How did someone’s content verticals or geographical location influence their editing style?
Below are all of the final edited photos. I’ve included everyone’s blog link as well as where they’re based to help give you some info but also let you make your own judgments on the correlation between their websites, their personalities, and their edits. I encourage you to poke around their blogs and their IG feeds to get more of a sense of their vibe, and what factors ultimately gave them the style they have. I’m sure I’ll be sharing my personal hypothesis at some point but I want this to be as objective as possible!
I hope this goes to show the power of editing, transforming photos from one thing to another entirely.
Note: I got an OVERWHELMING amount of responses when I asked for submissions to this post – to everyone who offered to help, thank you so much! I could only include so many photos, and I tried to showcase different types of editing.
Before
This photo was taken in September on a Canon DSLR with a 50mm lens. I made no adjustments to the lighting or colors.
And now… the edits! including my own 🙂

There certainly is! My editing style for example is colourful, high-contrast with a bit of sharpening. And my personal style is certainly colourful and a bit dramatic.

Love this! What a cool concept! It’s amazing how many different ways there are to edit one photo and how everyone has a different style. I think this totally proves how blogging isn’t dead. Different people gravitate toward different styles. It’s why theres room in this industry for everyone.
