On My Mind

the lasts of the lasts

With about 18 weeks separating me from the real world, this semester is far more important than any of its predecessors. This is the semester of “lasts”: the last syllabus week, the last basketball season, the last time freezing to death walking to campus bars (hoping this comes soon), the last Grand Prix, and the last time I will live within walking distance of all my favorite people ever again.

I have no doubt that my time left at Purdue will completely fly by, and I intend to make the most of every second.

School

I am, of course, at Purdue in the first place to be a student. As I’m sure you are aware, I plan EVERYTHING, and this semester is no exception. I already have my planner filled out with important dates and deadlines, color-coded by class. I’m in online classes for the first time, which some of my friends hate, but I’m actually super excited about it. I would much rather do an assignment at home in my pajamas on a snowy day instead of walking through the elements to get on campus, even though I do have some traditional on-campus classes as well. I also know I’ll be organized enough to stay on top of my coursework, even with the online classes, thanks to Erin Condren and her life planner. I will be sure to update on my online class experience as the semester goes on!

Health

Having free time is a fairly new idea to me, considering PUDM made me super busy in 2015. I think being able to have me time will help with my mental and physical well-being. I got sick so easily due to my lack of sleep last year and I was constantly tired, so I rarely went on runs or had time to myself. I think being more in control of my schedule will be soooooo much better instead of being forced to stay on campus for 12-18 hours every day. If I have a stressful day, I can run it out, instead of having to run to my next meeting, and I am so pumped for that!

Job Hunt

I am in the interviewing process with a few companies and I really hope that I figure out my post-grad plans sooner rather than later, going back to me being a planner. I have faith that I will end up where I am supposed to be, and I’m staying pretty positive about the whole thing. I will hopefully have an update on this soon!

Friends

This is my last semester with my favorite people, and I know that they will force me to go out and have fun, even if I don’t feel like it. We have weekend trips scheduled to Chicago, Indy, and other surrounding cities. I’m especially excited about spring break and going to Cancun! I know grades are important and all… But the things I will remember about this semester won’t be an A on an exam, it will be the memories I make with my friends. I’m sure we’ll have a loooooot to talk about for years to come.

Happy spring semester, everyone!

xoxo
