Wearing Dresses into Fall

Fall is in full swing! I love the crisp air, and the low humidity means I can finally straighten my hair again! I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of cute dresses I picked up all summer. Since it’s not deathly cold in Chicago yet, I’ve started incorporating dresses into my fall outfits!

There are a few easy ways to wear summer dresses into fall.

The first, and perhaps most obvious, is to cover up with a cardigan or jacket. This keeps you warm, but also adds a new texture or color. In this look, I paired an emerald green dress with a long gray cardigan. The cardigan is longer than the dress, which I think is super cute!

Moto jackets are super popular this fall, so I think any dress would easily turn seasonal with an appropriate jacket! Bonus points if it’s in a jewel tone or metallic, two notoriously fall things.

A second way to transition dresses to fall is by changing up your shoe game. In summer, I’d be wearing this dress with sandals, wedges or some other strappy shoe. By wearing these over the knee boots, I’m again covering up more to stay warm, but also adding a darker tone with a velvet texture – again, very fall.

I think this dress would also look cute with riding boots or booties! Both of these options also cover my toes and keep my feet snug and warm.

A final way? Fall accessories. Bring in fall shades through your jewelry, bags and scarves. I love this adorable black and white statement necklace! It echoes the black in my bag and my boots.

What do you think? Should we abandon all our dresses after summer or keep wearing them?
