Street Festivals in Logan Square with Chase Freedom Unlimited

Summer in Chicago is the. best. EVER! When it’s cold and snowing for 5 months out of the year, you have to enjoy the warmth while you can!
Something Chicago is known for in summer: street festivals. There are margarita festivals, blues band festivals, neighborhood-themed festivals… you name it, there’s a street festival for it. My friends and I love going to these because you can make an entire day out of them, plus the costs for food and drinks are low.
We recently went to a street festival in Logan Square, a neighborhood that a lot of my friends visit, but that I had never stepped foot in during my 3+ years in Chicago.
Logan Square is bordered by the Chicago River to the east, Diversey to the north, Bloomingdale to the south, and the Metra North Line to the west. It’s in the northwestern area of the city, sitting above Bucktown and Wicker Park. It has a similar artsy, creative vibe but definitely more Brooklyn-esque and hipster. A common pull out to Logan Square are the breweries!
I happily went along to the festival as it was a gorgeous day and an opportunity to check another neighborhood off my list to explore all of Chicago. One vendor had the yummiest fresh-made waffle cones… How could I say no? I’ve now explored 3 neighborhoods outside my “comfort zone” here in the city. I think at first it was hard for me to make time to get out of my routine and try something new. It’s so much safer to just sit at a coffee shop in between meetings than go out into an unknown area with zero idea of what to expect. It honestly reminded me of how I first felt when I moved here after college – as exciting as every step was, I had no idea what to expect.
An accomplishment I am proud of, though, is learning the main arteries of the neighborhoods west of the Chicago River! I was able to navigate myself around Milwaukee (which runs through Logan Square, Bucktown and Wicker Park) on my own as I was walking from the street festival to the train!
As I continue expanding my horizons in this city that I love so much – any recommendations of which neighborhood I should explore next?
