What I’m Packing for NYFW

Another NYFW season is upon us (and technically already has begun). This time, I’m going for a veeeery short time compared to my normal stay, and that obviously has impacted what I am packing.

I normally like to have all of my looks coordinate and tie into a theme or palette. Last September, everything I wore was pink or green, with some neutrals and denim added in. This season, I didn’t want to go all out on a super specific theme. It didn’t make financial or logistical sense as I am only staying in the city for a few days with my friend Austen, instead of having a full week in an Airbnb with more space for items and more time to wear them.

a snap of my fashion week nails if you missed it on the gram!

SO. Instead of showing you clothing and accessories I am packing… I thought this time, I’d show you what essentials I am bringing to survive fashion week.

Comfortable Shoes

I still bring some heels, don’t get me wrong (#DoItForTheGram) but 90% of the time, I am wearing something more comfy. Sneakers are the go-to especially for February fashion week, when the weather is cold and often wet. I always bring a tote bag to hold the “cute but not practical” shoes after I take photos and walk by the street style photographers.

Business Cards

The major reason I go to fashion week is networking. Business cards are passed around quite frequently, so I would definitely recommend printing at least 50 off if you head to FW. Good news, though – if you’re in a bind, you can always just share your IG handle.

Hand Sanitizer

It’s cold and flu season (plus the whole coronavirus thing) which means that hand sanitizer is a must. Stuffy noses are not in style!!!

Portable Phone Chargers

You never know if a meeting will run late or when a show will truly start… so I def recommend bringing a portable phone charger. My phone bank holds 2x battery and is a lifesaver!

Protein Bars

Going along with ever-changing schedules… you may think you have time to run and grab a coffee / bagel / snack, but 9 times out of 10, you won’t!!! Pack protein bars. They will carry you through the showroom visits and presentations until you have a window to find proper nourishment. Or, super cheap pizza 😉
