my kind of town, chicago is
I’m all moved in to my new city and I’m super excited about what the future holds.
My mom and I moved in the majority of my stuff last weekend after we visited Purdue and my school apartment one last time to grab a few things. I then got to go home for a few days, celebrate my upcoming birthday as well as Zack’s, and eat as much free food as I could. I came back up to Chicago on Sunday, and now I’m here for good!
Yesterday, I took my first trip on the “L” train and successfully navigated the area around my apartment as well as finding my friend Lauren in the Loop. It was so surreal to meet up with her on Michigan Avenue instead of at the Purdue Union’s Starbucks, but we both showed up unintentionally matching in denim and statement necklaces, so I guess some things never change. A word of advice: Google Maps will fail you when every building is sky-high, and you will wander around in circles following its directions realizing that where you needed to be is right down the street. That annoyance was quickly remedied with wine and good food 🙂
I have LOVED decorating my first real place and as my roommate and I find pieces we need to fill certain spaces, I will be sure to share finalized pictures of everything! I’ve felt a little like Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper taking a blank slate and making it entirely your own. The people who lived in the unit before us had it decorated sooo incredibly different than what we have done, and I’m sure that fit their needs and style, but I gotta say, it looks better now. My love of gold has expanded into every single room of the apartment, which ties it all together in my opinion.
Going through all the Shutterfly prints I recently got brought back a lot of memories of great times at Purdue, with PUDM, tailgates, Breakfast Clubs, purple-tinted Where Else? group pictures, and so much more. I had such a wonderful college experience, and if the past few days are any indication, my experience here will be nothing short of incredible.
xoxo
